Sleep Apnea -- A Silent Killer -- Do You Have It?
Sleep Apnea is one of the most undiagnosed issues of men’s health. It might seem like an easily dismissed condition but having Sleep Apnea greatly increases your risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes and give you headaches, feeling tired, sluggish or depressed. Sleep Apnea puts you in the same risk category of having a road traffic accident as driving drunk!
If you are in great shape and think that you can’t get it, guess again. Many high-profile athletes have sleep apnea which it is more common then you may realize.
Shaquille O’Neal has sleep apnea and he is raising awareness of this killer. William Shatner who played Captain Kirk in Star Trek, Quincy Jones who is a famous music executive, Anne Rice the author, Brett Favre who played quarterback for the Greenbay Packers all have sleep apnea, so you can see that it is not uncommon. And by the way, I have sleep anpea too, so I know the importance, first hand, of treating it!

The STOP Questionnaire – Do You Have Sleep Apnea?
(1) Do you snore louder than talking volume, or loud enough to be heard through a wall or closed door? YES NO
(2) Do you often feel tired, fatigued or sleepy through the day? YES NO
(3) Has anyone observed you stop breathing during the night? YES NO
(4) Do you have (or are you being treated for) high blood pressure? YES NO
If you have answered “yes” to two or more of the above questions, it is 90% likely you have Sleep Apnea. Do you often feel tired during the day? Do you have headaches when you wake up in the morning? Do you have difficulty concentrating, irritability or mood swings? These are often associated with Sleep Apnea. Great news, Sleep Apnea is easy to diagnose and it easy to treat.
